INTRODUCTION OF EAST AFRICA TRAVEL VISA (EATV)

The Governments of the Republics of Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda have signed a Memorandum of Understanding introducing the use of East Africa Tourist Visa (EATV) within the three Partner States with effect from 1st January, 2014.

The EATV shall be issued on request by a tourist at any Immigration Office or Embassy/High Commission of the Partner States. It shall allow tourists to visit any of the Partner States for the purpose of tourism.

The EATV shall be Machine Readable as per the ICAO standards and shall be issued upon payment of one hundred United States dollars (USD 100) or the equivalent foreign currency.

Eligible Persons: A foreigner who wants to Simultaneously visit the Republic of Kenya, Republic of Rwanda and the Republic of Uganda.

Dependents: All persons or dependents must apply in their own right.

Travel documents: Any genuine acceptable travel document valid NOT less than 6 months.

Visa fees: USD 100 (equivalent foreign currency)

Single or Multiple Entry: Multiple Entry

Validity: 90 days (3 Months)

The holder of the EATV shall enter from the country that issued the visa and move within the two countries without applying for another visa or paying for another visa fee. The holder shall also be allowed to move out of any of the three Partner States and return without having to pay for another visa.This will be applicable within a period of 90 days.

Other considerations:

Holders of EATV will not be allowed to work and the VISA shall not be extended.

Application Requirements:

  • one clear coloured passport size photo with white background recently taken without glasses,caps and surf (the photo should be attached to the application form by use of glue. Stappling and clipping the photo to the application form is not advisable).
  • A complete filled application form,
  • Visa application letter addressed to the issuing authority of the concerned country.

Note:

Applicants from countries that are on referral Visas shall apply for EATV from Missions whose Government has referral requirements.
